You go, Glen Coco
Sunday, September 6th, 2009Hello there.
I’ve made two new wallpapers, up in a variety of sizes:

"Bad fortune ne’er should daunt me, for I am young and the world is wide"
I designed the above wallpaper to keep myself from getting too down lately. I’ve been spending my time applying fruitlessly for every job I can find. I can think of a few words to describe this economic recession, and most of them are plagiarized from George Carlin.

Proverbs from around the world
There’s also this wallpaper with proverbs. When searching them out for use here, I came across an interesting one from China: Do not remove a fly from your friend’s forehead with an axe. I hope this doesn’t mean that 600 years ago in the Forbidden City some poor soul found this out the hard way.
I’ve added five new backgrounds, this time a very eclectic collection. I’ve got three collage-style backgrounds that I assembled out of junk mail and old magazines, a deco design in teal and orange, and a background listing some 1930s diner lingo.
To be fair I’ve never actually heard anyone use diner lingo in my entire life, but I’d love to hear the workers at McDonalds shout out "Burn one, take it through the garden and pin a rose on it" every time somebody wants a burger.
I’ve also uploaded 12 new iPhone wallpapers to Flickr.
You go, Glen Coco!
If you are Marketplace beta tester over at Spoonflower, you can now purchase a few of my designs as fabric. You can take a look at the designs available if you like, and when the Marketplace opens to all users you’ll be able to buy as many yards as you could ever need.
With love,
Sarah
Not Actually a Sesquicentennial
Saturday, August 1st, 2009Greetings again,
I’ve added six new backgrounds to the site. I don’t normally use a lot of white in my designs, so I went out on a limb this time to try something a little different.
I’ve now officially designed over 150 different backgrounds. If it took a year to make each one, then this would be the Sesquicentennial. But it doesn’t take a year, of course. I just wanted an excuse to use the word sesquicentennial. And I did. TWICE.
There’s also six new iPhone wallpapers available.
I think that’s it for today.

The Summer of George
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009Hiya.
I’ve added six new backgrounds, and here they are:
Also I’ve got four new iPhone wallpapers up.
My internet is touch-and-go lately, or rather touch-and-not-go. If I touch the wireless router, my internet stops working. Earlier today I accidentally nudged it and I got a blue screen of death error. Lousy breakable technology. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SUMMER OF GEORGE.

My Tenth Grade Dream
Sunday, May 31st, 2009Hiya. I’ve made 12 new iPhone wallpapers, including the one below with some cowboy wisdom.
Also, I know I said a month ago that I’d probably never join Twitter, but now I’ve gone and done it anyway. I’ll probably be posting a lot of links to other design-y blogs and other interesting artsy stuff, so if you’re intrigued, feel free to follow me.
I still don’t fully understand the appeal of Twitter, but I’m hoping I’ll learn by doing. Plus now I get to fulfill my tenth grade dream of following that hunky dreamboat Orlando Bloom!!!*
*Or at least someone pretending to be Orlando Bloom. That counts, right?

Femme Fatale Eyebrows
Sunday, April 12th, 2009Good afternoon.
Five new backgrounds have been added to the site.
There’s a new wallpaper. It’s available in six sizes, including wide screen.
I’ve had this woman’s face on my computer for what seems like years now and I could never figure out what to do with her. The graphic is based on a photograph of a Mexican actress that I saw in a book back when I was taking Spanish classes. I have tried my best to identify her, but I’m no expert on classic Mexican cinema. After pouring over pages of old black and white photographs, all the actresses start to look alike; they all have the same hairdo and thin femme fatale eyebrows. If anyone knows who she is, please let me know.
Thanks to Google, I discovered that my wallpapers are only useful to 25% of my visitors because many people now have wide screen monitors. In an effort to keep up with the times, I’ve added a few wide screen versions of some of my older wallpapers. If anyone has any requests for a wallpaper that fits their monitor, just leave a note with your monitor size and I’ll try to get it up soon.
I’ve added 12 new icons, a few of which are below.

There’s also six new iPhone wallpapers over at my Flickr site.

Blogs are ***MAGIC!***
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008Happy holiday greetings!
I’ve added one new background and one new wallpaper. The newest wallpaper fits into the possibly running theme of ‘adorable-animals-that-look-like-paper-cutouts,’ and now I know the joy of spending a Saturday night trying to draw lipstick (à la Clara Bow) onto a cartoon reptile.
I’ve also uploaded some brand new holiday gift tags. I don’t suppose gift tags are all that useful one day before Christmas, but there you have them.

There’s also a small collection of iPhone wallpapers available on my Flickr account that you are free to download. Since iPhone wallpapers are only useful to a small percentage of the population, I’m posting them in the Flickr pool to give them a better shot at exposure. I myself do not actually own an iPhone, so somebody has to please tell me if these things actually work.
Also, now that this site is a blog I feel a little obligated to find some good ummm… blog friends. The other day a lovely site called iDIY gave a shout-out to my little Christmas Stationery collection, and I somehow got an email in my inbox telling me they had linked to my site. I think my own blog emailed me. There’s probably a technical explanation for this, but I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s ***BLOG MAGIC***!!! My point is, if you or someone you know has a kooky graphic design website and wouldn’t mind being associated with this place, then please leave a link in the comments.
Happy Holidays!
-Sarah
